April 7, 2022

ROYAL OAK, MI – Today, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) endorsed Congressman Andy Levin in his reelection campaign in Michigan’s new 11th District. With nearly 600,000 active and retired members, the IAM is one of the largest and most diverse labor unions in North America.

“The Michigan Machinist Union and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers are proud to endorse Congressman Andy Levin,” said Richard Cummings, President Emeritus of the Michigan Machinist Council. “Andy is a lifelong supporter of the working men and women of this country and an outspoken advocate for labor law reforms and trade agreements that prioritize workers. He follows in the footsteps of his family that has supported working people for many years: his father, Sandy Levin, former Congressman and his uncle Carl Levin, former Senator. We look forward to his continued work in Michigan and in Washington fighting for the futures of working families.”

“The Machinists have been so supportive of my work in Washington, from my bipartisan efforts to allow for electronic union elections, to my letter urging House leadership to take up the PRO Act that resulted in swift action on the floor,” said Congressman Andy Levin. “I’m proud to earn their support in my reelection campaign to keep being the union organizer of Congress and fighting for working people across diverse industries, from space, science and technology to hospitality, retail and beyond.”

To date, Congressman Levin has received every national union endorsement in the race, representing thousands of Michigan workers, including Service Employees International Union (SEIU); Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA); Communication Workers of America (CWA) national and District 4; National Nurses United (NNU); and UNITE HERE.
