Levin Takes No Corporate PAC Pledge
May 11, 2022
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Levin released the following statement:
“Across the country, we are seeing special interests pouring money into races to defeat pro-choice, pro-democracy candidates, even in Democratic primaries. This is a critical moment for democracy and for human rights.
“In Washington, many corporations and trade groups make small donations to a wide swath of members on both sides of the aisle, and our campaign has reviewed contributions regularly and has donated contributions that do not align with our values to causes taking on the existential crises we face.
“For weeks, my campaign and the many progressive groups fighting alongside us have been in meaningful dialogue about the most effective way to live our values. Today, I am pledging to accept no corporate PAC money.
“This Saturday, on the National Day of Action for Abortion Rights, I will be donating contributions I have received this cycle from corporate PACs or industry groups backing insurrectionist members of the Congress to the Michigan Reproductive Freedom for All ballot initiative to protect the right to an abortion in our state.”
“I urge Congresswoman Stevens to join me in standing for the principle that we should not accept money from organizations that support insurrectionists, and I call on her to reject the $450,000 she has received.”
