Levin Marks 200,000 Deaths by COVID-19 with a Call-to-Action
September 22, 2020
WARREN, MI - Today, Congressman Andy Levin (MI-09) released the following statement as the United States mourns the loss of 200,000 fellow Americans from COVID-19:
“We have just reached the grim milestone of 200,000 precious lives lost to this pandemic in the United States. This week also marks the beginning of early voting in Michigan. While Trump is not responsible for the coronavirus, he is responsible for the worst failure of executive leadership in modern history.
“Starting on September 24, Michiganders have our opportunity to decide the fate of a president who admitted to knowing how deadly this virus was back in February and willfully chose to downplay it for his own personal gain, at the expense of the lives of 200,000 fellow Americans, and the livelihoods of nearly 14 million more.”
“While the Trump administration has ignored our calls for full use of the Defense Production Act, a nationwide testing and contact tracing program, and a new stimulus package that actually meets the needs of struggling Americans, they cannot ignore our votes. This is our moment to make our voices heard in honor of the 200,000 lives already lost and all the lives we could save in a Joe Biden presidency."
