Levin Launches First Suite of TV Ads in MI-11 Race

June 6, 2022

ROYAL OAK, MI – This week, Congressman Andy Levin (D-Bloomfield Township), will launch the latest installment of his first series of TV and digital ads in his reelection campaign in Michigan’s new 11th District.

Starting tomorrow, “Hero*” will tell voters the story of the Levin family’s long friendship and allyship with the late civil rights icon, Congressman John Lewis (D-Georgia). Voters will view clips of the late Congressman Lewis’ historic Get Out the Vote Rally for Levin in 2018. Lewis emphasized Levin’s work as a union organizer, saying “We need his voice now in the Congress more than ever before.”

Congressman Levin introduced himself to voters last week with “Focus,” highlighting his lifelong pro-choice advocacy. He drew a contrast with his Democratic opponent as the only candidate to support the most effective bill to lower prescription drug costs, to never flip-flop on Medicare for All, and to not vote with Republicans to gut the minimum wage. The ad also discusses how Levin delivers for worker and features several prominent Southeast Michigan labor leaders:

  • Nia Winston, UNITE HERE Local 24 President;

  • Keith Combs, American Postal Worker Union (APWU) Detroit District Area Local President;

  • Mike Schulte, Communication Workers of America (CWA) National Staff Representative

  • Roscoe Woods, APWU Local 480-481 President

  • Joey Combs, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 517M President

These two ads appear on digital platforms alongside the campaign’s exclusively digital ad, “Power,” with the labor leaders speaking direct-to-camera about how Levin is the strongest voice sticking up for workers in Congress. Andy has every national union endorsement in the race.
