The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA), the largest labor and professional association for registered nurses in Michigan, has endorsed Andy Levin for the 9th Congressional District.
"Nurses and other working people need champions like Andy now more than ever. Andy will fight for collective bargaining rights and help lift up workers’ voices so that people, not just corporations, have a say in our lives,” said Michigan Nurses Association President and RN Jamie Brown. “Nurses look forward to working with Andy to fight for laws to stop hospitals from forcing unsafe workloads on nurses and to ensure that quality health care is available to all."
Levin is a lifelong progressive Democrat, nationally-known union organizer, clean energy entrepreneur and human rights advocate.
“I’m honored to have the support of the MNA and its members,” Levin said. “Every day, nurses work long, hard hours to improve the health and well-being of those around them. They deserve to have someone fighting for fair wages and safe work environments in Congress.”
Levin believes healthcare is a human right, not a privilege, and is a strong supporter of Medicare For All.
“Having access to quality health care and affordable prescription drugs should not be contingent upon a person’s socioeconomic status,” Levin said. “When I get to Congress, I will fight every effort by the Trump Administration to deprive millions of families of their coverage, because health care is absolutely a human right.”
