The American Federation of Teachers Michigan, which represents 35,000 educators across the state, has endorsed Andy Levin for the 9th Congressional District.
“We trust Andy to fight for public education,” said AFT Michigan President David Hecker. “From No Worker Left Behind to the Employee Free Choice Act, Andy has a long history of fighting for working families. Andy has the dedication and experience to be a champion for our educators, students and public schools in Congress.”
Levin is a lifelong progressive Democrat, nationally-known union organizer and experienced leader. When elected, Levin will help Michigan’s working families by fighting for good-paying jobs with benefits, quality public education, and Medicare for All.
“As a product of Berkley public schools, a father of four kids educated in public schools, and the husband of a former public school teacher, I know the importance of giving educators the resources they need and the respect they deserve,” Levin said. “Further, I believe that all children, regardless of their zip code, deserve a high-quality education that provides them with the instruction and support necessary to help them reach their full potential.
