Clean Water Action, Michigan’s largest grassroots conservation group with over 250,000 members, has endorsed Andy Levin for Congress.
“Andy Levin has been a strong advocate for protecting the Great Lakes and increasing investment in renewable energy in Michigan to combat climate change,” said Mary Brady-Enerson, Clean Water Action Michigan Director. "Michigan needs Congressional representatives who are willing to stand up for the Great Lakes and protect the progress that we’ve made on environmental issues from the dirty water agenda of the Trump Administration.”
Levin, who is running in Michigan’s 9th District, is a lifelong progressive Democrat, experienced union organizer and a clean energy entrepreneur. After leaving state government in 2011, Andy founded and continues to run his own company, Levin Energy Partners, LLC. Additionally, Levin created a statewide market to finance clean energy building improvements called Lean & Green Michigan LLC., and conceptualized the idea of building a statewide program to implement newly available property assessed clean energy (PACE) financing districts across Michigan.
“Andy’s advocacy on behalf of our Great Lakes and natural areas across the country has been substantial and far-reaching. We definitely need hardworking and principled advocates like Andy Levin in Congress,” said Brady-Enerson. “We are proud to endorse Andy’s campaign for the 9th Congressional District, and look forward to working with him as a legislator. The choice is clear – Andy Levin for Congress.”
Levin said when he gets to Congress he will help make Michigan a leader in energy technology, which will create reliable, good-paying jobs, protect the environment and keep communities safe from pollutants.
“More than 40 percent of major industrial facilities in Michigan are spewing large volumes of pollution into our rivers and lakes, violating the Clean Water Act,” Levin said. “Unfortunately, the Trump Administration continues to allow corporations to pollute our environment. Protecting and sustaining our natural resources is imperative and I will fight every single effort by Trump’s administration to weaken the protections we have in place.”
