Levin gains momentum, announces endorsement of more mayors and city council members
Andy Levin continues to gain momentum in his race for the 9th Congressional District with the endorsement of two more mayors and two more city council members in the district.
Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor and Berkley Mayor Dan Terbrack both announced their endorsement of Andy this week, along with Berkley City Council members Eileen Steadman and Bridget Dean.
“I’m endorsing Andy for Congress because of his exemplary leadership and grassroots experience,” said Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor. “Michigan needs candidates who are willing to roll up their sleeves and work collaboratively to improve our communities. Andy has the disposition and skills necessary to make that happen.”
Levin is a lifelong progressive Democrat, nationally-known union organizer and experienced leader. When elected, Levin will help Michigan’s working families by fighting for good-paying jobs with benefits, quality public education, and Medicare for All.
“Andy Levin has spent his life building programs and entities that have improved people’s lives, and endorsing him is the best choice for families, students and working people,” said Berkley Mayor Dan Terbrack. “His leadership and commitment to the 9th District and all Michiganders will make him an exceptionally effective and responsive Congressman.”
Since announcing his campaign, Andy has been endorsed by Hazel Park Mayor Mike Webb, Madison Heights Mayor Brian Hartwell, former Berkley Mayors Phil O’Dwyer and Marilyn Stephan, and numerous city council members and numerous other elected officials throughout the district.
Levin has also been endorsed by more than a dozen regional and national unions representing millions of American workers including the AFGE, AFL-CIO, AFSCME, Communications Workers of America, International Association of Machinists, International Union of Operating Engineers, Iron Workers, Michigan Alliance for Retired Americans, Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council, Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights, National Nurses United, National Weather Service Employees Organization, Service Employees International Union, SMART, Teamsters, United Auto Workers, UNITE HERE, United Food & Commercial Workers Local 951, and Utility Workers Union of America.
