Andy Levin Stands with Planned Parenthood, Slams Trump’s Attack on Women’s Health Care
In response to President Trump’s decision to ban providers from giving accurate medical information to their patient, Congressional candidate Andy Levin is vowing to fight for women’s health care.
“The decision about whether or not to have an abortion is a complex and difficult one best made by a woman in consultation with her doctor,” Levin said. “This gag rule put in place by President Trump is a direct attack on women’s health care rights and discriminates against lower income families. I am disgusted but not surprised, as this administration consistently politicizes health care.”
In addition to banning abortions, the Department of Health and Human Services announced proposed changes to the Title X Federal Family Planning Program as a way to cut funding for Planned Parenthood.
“Family planning clinics like Planned Parenthood provide patients with so much more than just abortions,” Levin said. “More than 4 million women, men and young people in the United States depend on Planned Parenthood for high-quality, affordable health care. Meanwhile, Trump and his administration are more than happy to deprive millions of women of health services. I can’t wait to get to Congress and fight this anti-woman agenda.”
Levin is a lifelong Democrat, workers’ rights expert and a passionate advocate for human rights and diversity. When elected, Levin will work to ensure all Americans have access to affordable healthcare, good-paying jobs and quality public schools.
