The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), comprising more than 400,000 members throughout the United States and Canada, endorsed Andy Levin for Congress today.
“No one is more qualified to receive our endorsement than Andy Levin, an experienced and steadfast union organizer,” said IUOE Local 324 President Douglas Stockwell. “With his extensive background as a workers’ rights advocate, we trust Andy’s leadership capabilities and look forward to working with him to make Michigan communities better places for working people.”
“The dignity and value of work in this country have been undermined and many of our jobs have been offshored or privatized. Under the current administration, working families have been left on the back burner, leaving millions without good paying jobs, quality education and access to healthcare,” Levin said. “I’ve been a champion of workers’ rights my entire adult life and I’m eager to take this same passion to Washington, where I will fight for operating engineers and other hardworking Michiganders.”
Levin has been endorsed by a dozen local, statewide and national unions representing millions of American workers including the Communications Workers of America, International Association of Machinists, Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights, National Nurses United, National Weather Service Employees Organization, Service Employees International Union, SMART, UNITE HERE, United Food & Commercial Workers Local 951 and Utility Workers Union of America.
