Wanting more elected officials with strong, middle class values, the Michigan Council of Carpenters and Millwrights on Monday endorsed Democrat Andy Levin for Congress.
“The Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights (MRCC) is proud to endorse Andy Levin for Congress,” said Lisa Canada, MRCC Political and Legislative Director. “He shares our commitment to good jobs and an economy that works for working people.”
Levin is a lifelong progressive Democrat, a respected union organizer and a trusted leader in his community. He has a proven track record of fighting for middle and working class families. As Assistant Director of Organizing at the AFL-CIO, Levin worked closely with union members to protect workers’ freedoms to form unions and bargain collectively.
“I am dedicated to protecting and restoring Michigan’s middle class – a passion I share with the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights,” Levin said. “It is an honor to have the Carpenters at my side as we work together to ensure Michiganders have the tools and skills they need to live a dignified life.”
Levin has been named a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate and has been endorsed by the Communications Workers of America, International Association of Machinists, Utility Workers Union of America, UNITE HERE, former Congressman and gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer, former U.S. Rep. David Bonior, former Governor Jennifer Granholm, State Rep. Bill Sowerby, State Rep. Henry Yanez, Oakland County Water Resource Commissioner Jim Nash and retired Macomb County Clerk Carmella Sabaugh.
