(CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich.) – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers has given their stamp of approval to Andy Levin in his bid for the 9th Congressional seat with an endorsement announced on Tuesday.
Levin served as Assistant Director of Organizing for the national AFL-CIO for 11 years, helping workers across the country organize for a better life with a wide variety of unions. During that time Levin created the Union Summer program, which put more than 1,000 young people on the front lines of union campaigns, and led the Voice@Work campaign to seek passage of the Employee Free Choice Act.
“I’m proud to have the support of IAM,” Levin said. “I look forward to working with IAM members to turn out a huge union family vote this fall to change the course of this country so we can begin rebuilding the middle class.”
Levin has also been endorsed by the Utility Workers Union of America, UNITE HERE, former Congressman and gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer, former U.S. Rep. David Bonior, State Rep. Bill Sowerby, State Rep. Henry Yanez and retired Macomb County Clerk Carmella Sabaugh.
