(CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich.) – The Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) formally endorsed Andy Levin for the 9th Congressional District on Wednesday.
“Andy is the ideal candidate to represent the 9th District and give working people a voice in Congress – a voice that is sorely needed on the national stage,” said D. Michael Langford, President of UWUA. “We look forward to seeing Andy Levin take his life-long fight for the interests of working families to Congress.”
Levin has spent decades helping workers organize and bargain collectively for fair wages and safe working conditions. Now he is taking the fight to Congress, where he will stand up to the mounting attacks on workers’ rights and make the working class a top priority.
“It's time to put what’s good for workers at the center of every policy decision: taxation, regulation, economic development, you name it. We can create better jobs by making increased living standards the center of all trade deals, raising the minimum wage, and restoring the freedom of workers to form unions and bargain collectively,” Levin said.
Levin has also been endorsed by former Congressman and gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer, former U.S. Rep. David Bonior, State Rep. Bill Sowerby, State Rep. Henry Yanez and retired Macomb County Clerk Carmella Sabaugh.
